Auburn University's interdisciplinary initiative that fosters global research, teaching, and outreach.
Who We Are
The Global Development Solutions (GDS) Lab is an interdisciplinary initiative at Auburn University that conducts global research, teaching and training, and outreach programs in Africa to facilitate development and strengthen democracy. We believe civil society can hold government and market institutions accountable for realizing individual and community well-being by creating spaces for people to exercise their right to participate in decision making on political, social, and economic issues that affect their lives and influence social change.

Our Commitment to the
United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals
GDS works in support of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by field testing translational research, strengthening transdisciplinary learning and educational interactions, and institutionalizing university-community partnerships.
At the GDS Lab, we have identified an SDG that resonates deeply with our mission. We work in support of SDG 16, to "Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels." Additionally, we also support the 2020-2030 Global Agenda for Social Work and Social Development and its commitment to “co-building inclusive social transformation.”
