Biography
Chinonye Austin Ekwujuru is a Master’s student in Public Administration at the Department of Political Science, Auburn University. His research interests focus on nonprofits service provision, public management and public policy, democratic governance in Africa, and community led development. He is also interested in issues of transitional justice and access to information as a critical component of inclusive governance and sustainable development.

Chinonye previously worked with Amnesty International Nigeria as a research assistant and with Basic Rights Watch (BRW) as Chief Executive Officer. He has consulted for the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) Nigeria on peace and security, and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) Nigeria as a field officer. Chinonye holds professional certifications in Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ESCR) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from the Geneva Academy, Project Cycle Management from the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITCILO), Italy and Result Based Monitoring and Evaluation from Cloneshouse Nigeria.
Chinonye is a Fellow of the Open-Minds Young-Voices, and ONE Champion. He was awarded the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Media Africa Award in 2020, for his outstanding contribution to access to information and civic engagement in Nigeria. He currently serves on the governing board of the Young Professionals in Policy and Development, contributing to its strategic leadership and governance.
